MONOLOGUE  COURSE

8 Week Monologue Course

Wednesdays 10am-1pm

Ongoing enrollment year round

Let go of performance-anxiety, build confidence and expand your range and bookability - even if you've never performed a monologue in front of a live audience before. 

 

This class will offer practical tools to relax you before an audition, show you how to break down the dramatic arc of your monologue and teach you how to perform any monologue, classical or contemporary, with heart, charisma and authenticity. 

 

By the end of this class you will have a repertoire of audition-ready monologues that show multiple sides of you as an actor and that you can perform at the drop of a hat. 

 

NOTE: The class is also open to writers! Come workshop monologues you have written with live actors, and get studio-level notes and feedback on your material.

Noon - 5pm

Build confidence and charisma and become a more bookable actor - even if you've never done Shakespeare before. 


This 3-part workshop combines Shakespeare acting techniques, text analysis, movement, voice and dreamwork. You will gain a comprehensive, embodied understanding of Shakespeare and the confidence to perform any text - Shakespeare or contemporary. Ideal for new and returning students, veterans and civilians.

Veterans Supporting The Muslim Community

A Day Of Dance and Shakespeare

Warriors For Peace theatre, in partnership with DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion®, Millions of Conversations, and The IMAN Cultural Center brings you a day of healing and community building through the arts.

 

Warriors For Peace is a collaboration of military veterans and civilians that uses the theatre arts to heal and promote peace. We would like to offer our support to the Muslim community in LA and make a stand against Islamophobia. We are under the non-profit sponsor Creative Visions.

 

What: 

A community building event designed to have veterans support the local Muslim Community and make a stand against Islamophobia and hate. The event will consist of a free two hour dance and movement workshop by DIAVOLO and a free two hour introduction to reading and performing Shakespeare. Master Shakespearean actor and teacher Arming Shimerman (Known for his role as Quark on Star Trek Deep Space Nine) and Jacques Heim, founder and Artistic Director of the world renowned modern dance company DIAVOLO will be our facilitators. All levels welcome. Never danced before? No Problem. Never studied Shakespeare or acting? Perfect come learn with us! 

 

DINNER PROVIDED!  Meals generously donated by Art Works Austin!

Women of Shakespeare Showcase - 2.0

Come and take a journey through the world of Shakespeare through the eyes of glorious women. Featuring the classic interpretations with a few surprises. Some of LA's most exciting actresses showcased in the works of the genius, William Shakespeare.  Directed by Susan Angelo.

 

One night only!  March 25th, 7pm at the American Legion Post 43 in Hollywood. The bar opens at 6 PM. Come early and network and have a drink at the Legion’s historic art deco bar! Following the performance there will be a talk back with director, Susan Angelo, WFP Theatre founder and executive director, Christopher Loverro, and the stars of Women of Shakespeare. The talk back is the perfect time to dialogue with the actors who are comprised of military veterans and civilians about the healing effects of art and an opportunity to narrow the civil-military divide

 

FREE Parking!. Veterans and Seniors ticket prices are half off.  Active Duty military are given free admission.

Warriors For Peace Theatre is performing a table read of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar! Directed by world renowned actor and teacher Armin Shimerman, our exciting production will be in a modern war setting with gender bending roles and an ethnically diverse cast of military veterans and civilians.

FREE SHAKESPEARE CLASS FOR VETERANS:

Eight week course on Coriolanus



This class will delved into one of Shakespeares most famous plays: Coriolanus. Unlike our previous intro course, this class is for actors who have at least some experience with Shakespeare. It is a play about war and covers many of the themes that resonate with veterans such as duty, honor, sacrifice, loyalty, brotherhood, and betrayal. 

 

WHEN: 

Monday Nights 7-10pm. July 12th thru August 30th (8 classes). Via ZOOM!
